The Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos State, has jailed a popular Nollywood actor, Baba Ijesha, whose real name is Olanrewaju Omiyinka, to 16 years imprisonment for sexual assault and indecent treatment of a child.

The Judge of the court,Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, handed down the sentence on Thursday afternoon while delivering judgement in a case brought before the court, against the actor by the Lagos state government.

In a judgement which lasted two hours, Justice Taiwo convicted Baba Ijesha of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault and attempted sexual assault.

He, however, discharged and acquitted him of count one and count six, which were: sexual assault by penetration and attempted sexual assault by penetration.

The Judge, however, noted that the prosecution failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt that the defendant was guilty of the six-count charge filed against him, adding that the sentence would run concurrently.

Our Correspondent recalls that the embattled actor was arraigned on June 24, 2021 during which six prosecution witnesses testified against him.

Our Correspondent also gathered that is jailed for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old daughter of his colleague, actress and comedienne, Damilola Adekoya, whose stage name is Princess.
