Nigerian muslim pilgrims to the 2022 Hajj operation in Makkah and Madinah on Friday, joined more than one million other Muslim pilgrims globally on Friday,to converge on Mount Arafat for this year Hajj operations.

Our Correspondent gathered that the pilgrims will spend a day at Arafat, praying and performing other religious tires, having spent a night at Muna the previous day.

According to Islamic injunction, standing on Arafat is regarded as an essential part of the Hajj, because Arafat is a symbolic representation of the site where all supplications by pilgrims are automatically accepted by Allah.

In this regard, pilgrims are expected to use the day for prayers, for themselves, families, friends, the Muslim community as well as their countries at Arafat also known as Jabal ar-Rahmah, which means the Mountain of Mercy.

On the ninth day of hajj, pilgrims leave Mina for Mount Arafat where they stand in contemplative vigil and pray and recite the Quran.

History has it was at Arafat that Prophet Muhammad gave his last sermon to the Muslims that accompanied him for the Hajj towards the end of his life.

A pilgrim’s Hajj is invalid, if he or she does not spend the afternoon on Mount Arafat.

The hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam prescribed for all Muslims to perform at least once in a life time, if they are in good health with adequate resources do so.

Our Correspondent recalls that at least, 42,000 Nigerian pilgrims from the 36 states of the federation and the FCT as well as private tour operators are taking part in the religious exercise said to be the largest in the world.
