Ekiti guber poll: PDP candidate appreciates Ekiti people for peaceful conduct

As the people of Ekiti state are basking in the euphoria of the peaceful Governorship electíon, which place on Saturday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the exercise,Otunba Olabisi Kolawole, has thanked them for the peaceful manner the election was conducted.

This is contained in a letter of appreciation to the people of the state, personally signed by Kolawole in Efon Alaiye and copied Journalists on Sunday.

In the letter, entitled: THANK YOU ALL, EKITI, he said:” With a deep sense of responsibility, I, Otunba Olabisi Kolawole, would like to thank the Ekiti people, members of the PDP and all sympathisers who believe in us and in our cause to raise higher the banner of Ekiti State.

“According to the scripture, the race is not for the swift nor the battle for the strong. We have tried our best and even though the election has not gone the way we had expected and deserved, yet we give all glory to God and wish Ekiti people well.

“We congratulate all those who supported us and thank them for believing in our desire to lift Ekiti State to an admirable pedestal.

“It is our prayer that Ekiti will grow from strength to strength in spite of all.”

The Efon-Alaaye-Ekiti-born politician also thanked former governor of the state, Mr Ayo Fayose, for his leadership and fatherly role and all the party supporters for their loyalty, commitment and believing in him and other party leaders before, during and after the poll.

“We sincerely thank our indefatigable leader, H.E, Dr. Peter Ayodele Fayose.

“We also appreciate all PDP leaders and members, who supported us till the very end of this race.”

The Reporters recalls that Prof. Oyebode Adebowale, the INEC Returning Officer, had earlier declared Biodun Oyebanji winner of the election with 187, 057 votes.

He said that Oyebanji had certified the law and was, therefore, declared the winner.

“That I, Prof. Oyebode Adebowale, hereby satisfied that I am the Returning Officer of the Ekiti 2022 Governorship Election held on June 18.

Kolawole in the declared result came third with 67,457 votes
