Eighteen persons were on Saturday night, burnt beyond recognition in a ghastly motor accident which occurred at Gidan-Mangoro area on Minna-Bida road, Minna, Niger state.
The Reporters reports that the auto crash involved an 18-seater Toyota a Kano Line bus coming from Lagos and heading to Kano and a broken down truck almost at the centre of the road.
Eyewitness told The Reporters that the broken down truck was almost at the centre of the busy Minna-Bida road without sign to indicate danger for other road users.
They added that unknown to the driver of the bus,he rammed the vehicle unto it and the bus busted into flame.
Eyewitness account said most of the occupants of the bus,including children and the driver,lost their lives as they were burnt beyond recognition.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Niger state Command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun,who confirmed the incident and the dead, said the only survivor of the accident was receiving treatment at an undisclosed health facility in Minna.
Wasiu told Journalists that the accident occurred around 3 a.m.
While cautioning travellers against embarking on night journey due to inherent dangers, the PPRO said the bodies of the dead had been given mass burial at Gidan-Mangoro burial ground, outskirt of Minna, where the incident occured.
