The Indian Army has solicited enhanced tie with its Nigerian counterpart to boost existing cooperation between the two nations.
Maj,-Gen Rajesh Moghe, stated this in Lagos when he led a delegation of course participants from National Defence College, New Delhi, India, who were on a study tour, to the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army,Lagos to strengthen collaboration with the Nigerian Army institution.
He said the visit was aimed at exposing the course participants know the military culture and operational activities in Nigeria.
General Moghe added “We want the course participants to have knowledge on how the Nigerian Army, particularly 81 Division, is working; what operations are being undertaken and how the Division is performing the operations and what experience can be learnt and shared.”
He disclosed that the already, the existing relationship which made it possible for the course participants to be visiting Nigeria,would be further deepened for the good of both countries by the visit.
According to him, thereafter, the participants will formulate strategies that will help to strengthen the Military as a whole.
Receiving the delegation,,the GOC 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Umar Musa, said the Division was one of its kind in charge of security and protection of the south western flank of the Nigerian border.
He further disclosed that the Division carried out its missions in collaboration with the Nigerian Navy (NN).
“The NN carries out its missions on the high sea while the NA supports them with amphibious operations within the coaster areas of the south western flank of Nigerian border,”General Musa said.
The GOC, 81 Div.expressed delight that the collaboration between the two nations had stabilised security in the general area of Lagos and Ogun States.
Our Correspondent reports that participants were later briefed by Colonel Jerry Maigari,on the activities of the Division which include the various operations undertaken by the Division within Lagos and Ogun States.
This was followed by an interactive session, where issues concerning operational operandi of the Division were clarified
Highlights of the visit include presentations of souvenirs from the host and the visiting team, as well as a group photograph.
