Kogi NUJ loses member, Abubakar Alimi

A member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Kogi State Council,Mr Abubakar Alimi, is dead,aged 61.

Avdulkabir Alimi,his son, broke the news, adding that his father died on Monday at the Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada and buried in Abuja on Tuesday.

Our Correspondent that Alimi, who battled kidney related ailment for some time reached out to members of public and private sectors soliciting for N10 million to enable him travel abroad to seek further medication.

The Reporters recalls that the deceased, regarded as a Veteran in his chosen profession, was a product of the then Kwara State College of Technology,now Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, where he obtained his Advance General Certificate in Educatuon (GCE) in 1983.

He proceeded to the University of Jos where he graduated in Political science in the mid 80s.

The late Alimi began his journalism career, setting up the first Community Newspaper in Kogi State, called Kogi Express Magazine,where he served as the Editor-In-Chief.

Besides making meaningful impact in Journalism, the deceased also held political appointments which include: Secretary, Yagba East Local Governnent Area of kogi state and Secretary of KOGROMA under the administration of Captain Idris Wada among others.

Alimi died is survived by a wif and children.
