An epitome of Arts, culture, Abraham Adavi is dead

Late Mr. Abraham Adavi.

A worthy citizen of Kogi State,who has contributed immensely to the growth and development of arts and culture and other arts inclined organisations in kogi state and Nigeria at large, Mr. Abraham Adava, is dead.

His brother, Mr Ododo Adava, who broke the sad news to the Correspondent of The Reporters in a telephone interview from Abuja on Tuesday, said his brother died in a private hospital, Abuja Tuesday evening during an illness.

Our Correspondent reports that the late Adavi, in his mid 60s, was also a retired permanent secretary in the Kogi State Civil service, left his mother, a wife and children to mourn his death.

The online publication gathered that the deceased obtained his first degree; BA (Hons); Performing Arts,MA performing Arts and another masters degree in Industrial and Labour Relations, all from the University of Ilorin.

He was a member of many professional bodies, including: National Association of Nigerian Arts, Practitioners (NANTAP), Movie Practitioners of Nigeria and Artistic Director, Kogi State Arts and Culture before being appointed as permanent secretary in the state civil service.

His interest include; Total Artistic Director,Composer, Choreographer, Writer and Impresario among others.

Our Correspondent who visited the residence of the deceased in Lokoja on Wednesday reports that many people were seen signing condolence messages in his honour.

The late Adavi was one time a lecturer with the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ),Lokoja centre. The institute is affiliated with the University of Maiduguri for the training of Journalists in the country.

Many sympathers ,who spoke with The Reporters, described the deceased as an easy, a first class technocrat, friendly across the spectrum of people, a collosus in literary, culture and arts, intelligent and above all, God-fearing person.

In a statement sent to The Reporters, one of the close friends of the deceased, Pastor Francis Tobi Fagorite (JP)of The Apostolic Church, Lokoja said:”We have lost a Senior Citizen and a devout Christian

“Late Tolorunju Johnson Adavi Abraham was a seasoned career Civil Servant in Kogi State Civil Service who committed his energy to civil service rules and served as a Permanent Secretary between 2011-2017 .

“He was a devout Christian, whose activity in the church is worthy of emulation. He will be sorely miss him.”
