A frontline aspirant to the seat of President of Nigeria,come 2023 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has promised Nigerians that if they elect him as their president,next year, he would not be “an absentee President but will always be on ground to take charge of statutory duties and responsibilities.”
Tambuwal,who is also the Governor of Sokoto state, made the promise on Tuesday when he visited Minna,Niger state capital where he met with Niger state delegates ahead of May 28 and May 29 National Delegates Conference.
The Reporters reports that 15 presidential aspirants of PDP, including Atiku Abubakar, will lock horn and at the end of the exercise,one of them will emerge as the party’s flag bearer for presidential election.
Tambuwal further assured the people that “I shall be there, 24/7,to deliver on the people’s mandate”.
He said what Nigeria needed was a credible leader who would return the country to the path of growth and socio-economic development a task he said could only be done by PDP.
The aspirant,who said that “one of the greatest mistakes the PDP will make, ahead of next year’s election, is to put forward candidate that is not credible enough to deliver votes and also win the 2023 Presidential election”, insisted that he “is the only candidate that can deliver for the PDP.”
He described himself as a unifier with the capacity to bring Nigerians together, adding that he had the potential of uniting various ethnic divides, no matter the situation.
The aspirant,therefore appealed to Niger delegates to consider his candidature and his developmental strides in Sokoto state, as an attestation to his capabilities to be the next president of Nigeria.
Among top on the agenda of his administration,if voted in as President, according to Governor Tambuwal is to restructure Nigeria to ensure that every segments and sections of the country had a say in his government.
Responding, Niger state chairman of the PDP, Tanko Beji commended Tambuwal for visiting the state to meet one-on-one with the delegates, adding however that the state had agreed not to consider Presidential aspirants that fail to visit the state delegates, ahead of the national conference.
Beji said, “We agreed that any Presidential aspirant who did not visit Niger state will not be considered to get any of our votes. “Because you have come here today, we will consider you, based on what you have told us and we believe that you will keep to your words”.
Beji noted that Nigeria needed rescue from its dwindling fortunes, adding that only an energetic and visionary President, who would be able to unite all the tribes and religious divide, would be good enough for the great task.
