Breaking: ASUU Extends Strike By 12 Weeks

The Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU), has rolled over its ongoing strike for another 12 weeks.

ASUU President, Prof. Emmanuel Osese,in a statement on Monday in Abuja,said this was to give the government enough time to satisfactorily resolve all the outstanding issues.

He also stated that the roll-over strike was effective from 12.01 a.m, May 8, 2021.

The president of ASUU said the union took the decision after its National Executive Council meeting which started on Sunday night at the Comrade Festus Iyayi National Secretariat, University of Abuja.
The government is yet to react to this latest extension by ASUU.

Some university students and parents, in separate interview with our Correspondent described the extension as a sad developmnt and called on the union and federal government to find lasting solution to incessant strikes in nation’s university.
