Arabi commends Buhari over upgrading FCE, Kontagora to  University of Education

Alhaji Jalal Ahmad Arabi, the Chairman,Federal College of Education Governing Board,kontagora,Niger state, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for assenting to the bill seeking to upgrade the College to a  University of Education.

Arabi,who gave the commendation while speaking with newsmen in Minna on Wednesday,described the action of the president as a bold step and a litmus test on the capable of of his government to re-engineer the country’s educational sector for optimal growth and development. 

” President Buhari deserves the accolade for taking the bold step to uplift the standard of the Federal College of Education to the status of a university,” the chairman said.

He expressed optimism that the assention to the bill would enhance academic excellence and provide opportunities to the teeming applicants of tertiary education in the country to fulfill their educational ambition.

He said: “Indeed, it has become necessary to lend my voice in appreciating President Muhammadu Buhari for the bold step he took in approving the conversion of the Federal College of Education to a full Conventional University of Education. 

“More so, it will provide more opportunities for our teeming graduates to be gainfully employed as the conversion will see to the establishment of more additional faculties that will offer more professional courses, that are of high demand in the present 21st century.”

The Chairman reassured that the board would give every support to the Federal Government to ensure that the University takes off, adding that so far, the infrastructure available was good enough for the smooth take up of the institution. 

He described the struggle for the actualisation of the university’s conversion as a collective one that received the blessings of well-meaning Nigerians.

Also commenting on the issue, Dr. Yusuf Garba, former chairman, College of Education Academic Staff Union, commended Senator Abdullah  Sahabi for initiating the Bill.

He said that the university would help in producing the required manpower to effectively manage the  education sector, especially in the north central states of the country.

He explained that the conversation  of federal College of Education Pankshin and Kontagora to a degree awarding institutions would go a long way in providing conducive atmosphere for learning as well as manpower to manage the education sector of the country optimally.
