Electricity consumers in Lokoja and its environs in kogi state have decried the sudden increase in the electricity bill for March.
Some of the consumers who spoke with our Correspondent in Lokoja on Thursday, said the increase came without corresponding increase in electricity supply.
“My electricity bill for my three-bedroom flat for February was N6,000 and some extra kobo, only to be confronted with over N8,000 bill for March and I have not added any extra energy consuming gadget to my energy consumption in the house,”Mal. Mohamed Adagiri, told the Reporters.
Another energy user, Miss Abigail Jonathan, said,”even though I have not had public light in my house for the past three days, I am to pay outrageous bill now, who is cheating who,” she asked.
Enquiry by our Correspondent at the regional office of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) indicates that the hike in the bill came from”the above”.
Meanwhile, fuel scarcity which hit Lokoja and its environs about two weeks ago eased on Thursday in the area with some filling stations that dispensed the product having scanty number of vehicles.
Our Correspondent reports that AYM Shafa,Rano and Total filling stations, located on Ganaja junction and Gadumo village respectively sold the product at the official pump price of N165 per litre with few vehicles on the queue.
