The General Officer Commanding 6 Division Nigerian Army and Land Component Commander Joint Task Force South South Operation, Delta Safe, Maj.- Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has advised Journalists in the country to have the interest of the nation at heart in their practices.
The GOC gave the advice during a courtesy visit by the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Rivers State Chapter, to 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt Barracks,River state.
The GOC, represented by the Division’s Chief of Staff, Brig,- Gen. Sanusi Aliyu,also advised journalists to be guided by the ethics of their profession and as well endeavor to carry out necessary investigation before disseminating information to the general public, especially on delicate matters.
He, however, assured the Journalists that the Nigerian Army “is for all and will always be willing to work with them at all times”.
Earlier in his opening speech, the Chairman, of the council, Mr Stanley Job, who was represented by the Vice Chairman, Mr Anayo Onukwua, expressed gratitude to the GOC for granting their request for visit and assured him that journalists would do their best in carrying Nigerians along by disseminating right and timely information to the public.
Present at the visit were Commanders of 6 Division Affiliated Formations and Units.
Highlights of the visit were signing of visitors book, presentation of souvenir and group photographs.
