Residents of Kogi State Bound Housing estate, popularly known as Wada estate in Ajaokuta Local Governnent Area of kogi state, have appealed to the state government to provide them with electricity, road, potable water and security to make their staying secured and comfortable.
The residents made the appeal on Saturday at the estate at Jemgbe during their maiden meeting to ponder on issues that will make the estate conducive environment for living.
They contended that due to absolute lack of potable water, security and other infrastructural facilities, many of their colleagues allotted houses in the estate refused to occupy their blocks.
They expressed concern that they have no good water to carry out their domestic and commercial activities, light to power electronics, such radio and television with a view to be acquainted with happenings in the country and always in constant fear of attack by criminals.
Some of said they usually know current developments in the state and the country at large by making use of the television and radio as well as chargin their cellphones and other electronic gagets all in the office.
The allottees, however, expressed optimism that since the state government had commenced deduction from their salaries, as a result of allocating them the houses, it would soon provide them with such infrastructural facilities to sustain their settling down, attract more allottees to the estate as well as justify the deduction.
Various members that attended the meeting,chaired by Mr Fred Ikani, Chairman Interim committee of the estate, identified absolute lack of security as another serious factor discouraging most of their colleagues from relocating to the estate, a developmnt they urged begged for governnent urgent attention.
Our Correspondent reports that the meeting resolved to write letter to the Governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaha Bello, reminding him of their plight and the need to make the estate comfortable for living, by providing the needed facilities.
The meeting also appealed to the Commissioner for Works Housing,Engr. Abubakar Ohere, to facilitate government intervention in the provision of such necessary facilities to the estate.
The residents, however, resolved to embark on palliative measures, such as laying of drainage, checking encroachment and setting up local security committee to make the estate good and secured for living, pending the state government intervention.
Our Correspondent recalls that the estate, located off Lokoja-Ajaokuta road, Jemgbe and comprises of two and three bed flats, was built by the administration of Alhaji Wada Ibrahim.
