General Abubakar, who is also regarded as a stateman, gave the warning while speaking at the 19th Daily Trust Dialogue in Abuja, stressing that the increase, if implemented, it would impoverish more Nigerians.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Mr Laolu Akande, on Wednesday, said that at no time did the National Economic Council (NEC), headed by his principal, recommended ₦302/litre as the new price of petrol in Nigeria.

He was reacting to the rumour in certain quarters in the country that Nigerians might soon pay more for Petrol after the National Economic Council, NEC, allegedly recommended N302 per litre of fuel.
