Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger state has called on the Federal government to change its tactics from the conventional warfare to a technological-driven, to ensure desired results in the ongoing war against armed banditry, terrorism and other of crime criminality in the country.
He made the call in Minna when he received in audience the National leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC),Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Bello argued that since Nigeria was not fighting conventional warfare, it is high time it used technology, the expensive nature of such response to insecurity he noted, not withstanding.
According to him, the era of sending soldiers to forests, when the nation can deploy drones to monitor movements of bandits and hit targets effortlessly, should have been over.
Bello noted with dismay how some villagers in Mashegu Local Government Area of state were murdered in cold blood by the armed bandits inside the mosque while observing early morning prayers.
Commenting on another situation, Bello recalled that some bandits stormed another another village where its residents were also observing early morning prayers, locked the door, shot indiscriminately and left the village after killeding 18 people.
He described the the former governor of Lagos State as the only candidate that fits the needs and aspirations of the present day Nigeria,adding that Nigerians await his coming on board to transform the country the way he transformed Lagos.
The governor described Lagos is a country within a country, stressing that the foundation the Asiwaju laid that state, Nigerians looked for ward to seeing him replicate it for them.
Earlier, Tinibu, had enjoined Nigerians not to see the ongoing security breaches as hopeless situation, assuring them that with self belief, prayers and determination, the situation would be remedied.
He also told Nigerians that in as much as long as they had hope that they could turn the seeming impossible situation around for good in winning the war against criminal elements threatening the peace of the country, the nation would achieve the desired victory in the current war against crime and criminality in the country.
Tinubu,who expressed sympathy with the people of Niger state, donated N50 million to those affected by the rampaging bandatry attacks in the area.
Our Correspondent reports that the Asiwaju also paid a courtesy visit to former Military Head of State, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida in company of his political associates..
They include,Senator Abu Fari from Katsina state, Hon. Ibrahim Abdullahi, a member House of Representatives, representing Niger state and Hon James Falake representing Ikeja Federal constituency, Lagos state among others.
