Be wary of criminals,Kwara NSCDC boss urges POS operators

Kwara State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Makinde Iskil Ayinla, has appealed to the POS operators and the entire people in the State to be wary of criminal elements going around with the intention of defrauding them of their money.

The Commandant gave the advice on Friday in Ilorin while confirming the arrest of one Victor Adebayo, 24,descried sa serial POS fraudster and fake alert scammer.

Our Correspondent reports that the suspect was picked up by the intelligence unit of the corps after he allegedly defrauded many unsuspected people of more than N700,000)

According to the spokesman of the NSCDC in Kwara State Babawale Zaid Afolabi, the suspect who claimed to be Lagos-based, usually send alerts to unsuspected POS operators and will now collect cash from them and disappear into thin air.

” On the 13th January 2022, operatives of the NSCDC intelligence and investigations department picked up a suspected serial fraudster who has been going around defrauding people of their hard – earned money.

” The suspect usually going around in his Toyota Corolla car and very neat appearance and would meet pos operators to give him cash and he will now make a fake transfer which he has programmed on his phone” Babawale explained.

The CDPRO stated further that the suspect had perfected the dubious act and confirmed to have been doing it for more than two years, adding that sometimes, he would pose as pastor to convince the POS operators or tell them that his wife was in labour in the hospital and needed certain amount of money

In the meantime, some POS operators in Ilorin metropolis thronged the Kwara Command of the NSCDC,trying to catch the glimpse of the alleged serial fraudster and those that fell victim of his suspected act.
