The Police Command in Kogi State has deployed its tactical and operational teams and intelligence operatives to go after two fleeing notorious suspects who mysteriously escaped from Police station in Agume, Dekina Local Governnent Area of the state.
The command said that the suspects,arrested by a vigilante group and released to the Egume police station, specialise in kidnapping and vandalising electrical thunder copper protectors.
In the vein, the command has given greenlight for orderly room trial of officers who allegedly aided the escape the suspects.
The outgoing Commissioner of Police in the state,CP Idrisu Dabban, who disclosed this in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Police Command in the state,DSP William in Lokoja said investigation had commenced in the case.
Dabban,who condemned the incident, said he had ordered the officers on duty on the day the suspects escaped, be detained and immediately be subjected to orderly room trial.
“The Command assures the public of its level of determination in synergy with other security agencies to consolidate on the last year’s achievements and adopt new measures of tackling security challenges in 2022 and beyond.
“Members of the public are enjoined to continue to partner with the Police and other security agencies,providing credible information on the activities of criminal elements in the State,” the PPRO said.
Meanwhile, the command now has a new Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Chuka Egbuka.
CP Frank Mba,in a statement in Abuja,said the posting of Egbuka was on the order of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba.
According to Mba,Dabban had been redeployed to the Force Headquarters for other national engagements.
DSP William Aya told our correspondent, in a statement,that the new police commissioner “will report next week”.
