How to fight insecurity in higher institutions—Former IGP

The Pro-chancellor and chairman governing council, Al-Hikmiah university in Kwara state,Dr. Mohammed Abubakar,has called on Nigerians to join hands with government in the fight against insecurity, particularly in the various campuses of the higher Institutions in the country.

He gave the advice on Saturday at the 11th Convocation ceremony of the institution in Ilorin, stressing that restoration of peace and security remained a non-negotiable responsibility that must be borne by all,if insecurity facing the students within and outside the campuses must be solved to logical and.

Abubakar,who is also a retired Inspector General of Police, urged higher institutions authorities to take proactive measures in assuring the safety of the students in their care.

In his contribution, the Chancellor Dr. Sayyu Dantata, called on the graduates of the University to brace up for the challenges ahead of them, remain focus and build on what they learnt during their educational pursuit in the state.

Dantata commended concerted efforts by the board of trustee, the governing council, the management and the Senate of the in managing the affairs of the students.

In his address, the VC, Al-Hikmah university, Prof.Noah Yusuf, said the university graduated 28 first class students,282 with second class upper,532, with second class lower,97 with third class among others.

The Vice Chancellor urged the graduands to ensure the fear of God in all their engagements, in quest for self fulfillment in their future endeavours and identify with the university by contributing their quota to its development.

Also speaking,the representative of the National Universities Commission (NUC) , Professor Abubabar Adamu Rasheed, who congratulated the university, parents and the graduating students on their success promised that the commission would not relent in fighting the menace of illegal universities,satellite campuses and centres across the country.

Responding on behalf of her colleagues,the best overall student of the university, Sofiat Akolade Iwalewa, lauded the management of the institution and charged students to put God first in their minds, be focused and determined to be successful in life.
