Anambra State has lost Obi Alex Edozieuno, the suspended traditional ruler of of Mkpunando in Aguleri community in Anambra North Local Government Area of the State allegedly murdered by unidentified gunmen along with his driver, Chukwuemeka.
The Reporters gathered that the Obi’ s car was waylaid by the unidentified gunmen on Friday at Otuocha,Anambra East Local Government Area of the State.
Obi Edozieuno was said to be one of the 12 traditional rulers the Governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano suspended last year for accompanying an oil magnate, Prince Arthur Eze on a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari without permission.
Reacting to the development,the Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) for the Police Command in the state,Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the sad story.
He said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Tony Olofu, had visited the scene of the incident along Ikem Ivife Village by Ezu bridge, Otuocha, Anambra East, leading a team of police operatives.
He qouted his boss as describing the tragic incident as “man inhumanity to man”, adding the Commissioner of Police had ordered immediate investigation into the matter.
According to the PPRO, preliminary investigation revealed that the victims: one Mr Alex Edozieuno, (62), who was a former traditional ruler of Nkpunado Community Anambra East LGA and his driver, Chukwuemeka were attacked by suspected gunmen by 10 a.m along Ezu bridge, Otuocha.
Tochukwu also disclosed that the command had recovered a Lexus 470 Jeep with plate registration number.,Aguleri-1,belonging to the deceased.
The police spokesman further disclosed that some expended ammunition were also recovered from the scene of the incident by detectives, adding that the remains of the victims had been deposited at a morgue,awaiting further investigation.
