As hundreds of pedetrians pass through the popular Lugbe overhead bridge in the FCT, one figure many of them will not fail to notice is a young man who has put his fate behind him by seeing his unfortunate circumstance as a challenge to reinforce the popular saying that, there is ability in disability.

Aliyu, as he simply wants to be known and whose unique work caught the fancy of our Correspondent at the bridge on Tuesday;doing what he knows how to help disabled members of the society, called on his colleagues to shun begging and take to positive ends as well as productive endeavours for self actualization and the society in general.

Aliyu said he derived joy in contributing to the environmental cleanliness of his fatherland, by sweeping the bridge, and urged other citizens to join the queue, in whatever positive way, to move the nation forward.

Pedestrians who spoke with our Correspondent on the bridge described the man with disability as a big lesson to others in his shoe and the able-bodied ones in the society, that disability is not a stumbling block to being productive to oneself and the society in general.

Our Correspondent reports that Nigeria has a lot of people with one disability or the other, many of who choose begging to keep life going but make no meaningful contribution to the social and economic development of the country.
