The Police Command in Nasarawa state says is has arrested suspected fake,notorious criminal and fraudster in Karu Local Government Area of the state.
The state Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO),ASP Nansel Ramhan, disclosed this in a statement he issued to news men in Lafia over the weekend.
He explained that the arrest of the suspect he described as fake naval officer was in continuation of the Police determination to flush out criminal elements in the state.
He said on July 24, 2021, at about 1330hrs, Police personnel attached to New Karu Division, while on intensive surveillance patrol, picked one Nasiru Ahmed (32), alleged to be an impostor, notorious criminal, and serial fraudster.
Nansel disclosed that the suspect usually dressed in full military camouflage uniform of the Nigerian Navy and frequent Point Of Sale (P.O.S) operators at various locations within Karu LGA of the State, under the pretext of conducting transactions.
He said the suspect usually send in fake bank alerts into the operators’ mobile phones, instead of cash.

The police image maker further said that the suspect, with the aid of his force uniform,usually “intimidates, harasses as well as assault the P.O.S operators paraventure they complain about the money given to him not reflecting in their bank accounts.
He said upon his arrest, a thorough search of the suspect’s house was conducted, adding that two sets of Navy uniforms, two sets of boots, one set of knee guard and one dagger which he admitted using them for his criminal activities were recovered.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Bola Longe, has directed that the suspect to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department CID Lafia for further investigation.
