The Federal Government has been called upon to ensure adequate and functional security services, on Nigerian high ways, to checkmate incessant killings of innocent persons by unknown gunmen across the country.

Activities marking burial of late Francis Imegwu at Enugu-Ukwu, Anambra State.
Mr Fabian Anagor, a relative of Mr Francis Imegwu who was killed by unknown gunmen on March 10 along Benin –Lagos express way, made the call at the weekend after the outing service of the deceased.
He said that Francis final burial rites was held on May 7 and concluded on Sunday at St Benedict Catholic Church Avomimi,Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra state.
Anagor said that the rate at which travelers lives were being lost during their business or pleasure trips had become very worrisome and called for quick attention.
“Lives were lost in its numbers on March 10,2021 when unknown gunmen intercepted the driver of a commercial luxury bus “ Young Shall Grow” and killed some of its occupants, Imegwu included.
“ There are no news and reports regarding arrests to that effect, yet security personnel were mounted on that command.It is worrisome that such activity goes on unnoticed,” he said.
Anagor also called on luxury bus association to ensure the safety of its drivers, and fight for the protection of the workers at all times.
“I think that owners of these driving businesses should stand in gap for their drivers and partner with security agencies on safety of their drivers and customers.
Chief Robison Agu,another relative of one of the fallen kinsmen, described the sudden death of Francis as heart breaking.
Agu said that the sudden death as a result of unknown gunmen attack was preventable, if the government at all levels place value on security of its citizens and makes adequate plans for safe travel.
Mr Simon Okoye, another relative, described the death of Francis as a huge loss to the kindred because of his peaceful nature.
Mrs Grace Anagor,the Vice President of Aboatulu kindred meeting women wing, described late Francis as a pillar in the kindred,saying that he would be solely missed by all.
Anagor commiserated with his wife, Ngozi, her co wife and Chiamaka,the first daughter of the deceased and prayed for God’s guidance on the family left behind by Francis.
Mr Martin Imegwu, the immediate younger brother of the deceased, said the news of the death was a rude shock and prayed God to grant him the wisdom to man the family as his late did.
Mr Chizoba Imegwu,the deceased’s son, expressed gratitude to friends, relatives and business associates that commiserated with them.
He commended the huge support of Rtd Navy Commoodore Benjamin Mbachi, Messrs Umearh Ben Emoka, Dan Ekwoanya,Eleasar Okeke Mbachi,Innocent Okoye,Tochukwu Okoye and Christian Mbachi.
” I have so many people to thank gor the support may God bless you all for the show of love” he said.
Our Correspondent reports that Francis is survived by his Mother, wife, 6 children ,brothers, sisters, in laws, sisters- in- law other relatives.
The burial rites were graced by various groups such as Ugosimba Sisters, Enugwu Ukwu, Abagana in laws,masquerades,life band performers amongst others.
