As the world celebrates Press Freedom Day,Mr Idris miliki Abdul,
Executive Director, Conscience for human Rights and conflict Resolution.Lokoja, Kogi State, has called on all stake holders to continue safeguard freedom of the press and free flow of information.

He made the call in a statement he sent to The Reporters in Lokoja on Monday.

Abdul said:”In a situation where media practitioners are attacked in line of duty, as withnessed recently and in many instances across the world,is unacceptable and condemnable. Journalism is a noble profession and journalists should be able to practice their profession, without any hindrance.

“The owners of media institutions should take the welfare of journalists seriously.”

The executive director, who wished journalists Happy Press Freedom Day, urged them not to allow themselves to be intimidated in any way, adding that they should continue to uphold the principle of professionalism, at all times.

The Reporters recalls that the Day stems from the May 3,1991 Windhoek Declaration, adopted by UNESCO aimed toward the ‘development of a free, independent and pluralistic press’.
