JATTO 102.7 FM launches into kogi media space

The broadcast media industry in Kogi state on Thursday, received a boost with the coming of the first private radio, JATTO 102.7 FM, solely owned by an individual.

The correspondent of The Reporters reports that the radio station, located in Okene,the headquarters of Okene Local Government Area of the state, is established by RIVERDALE MULTIMEDIA INC, with Mr Edward Jatto as the President/Chief Executive Officer.

In his speech at the occasion, the owner of the radio station, Mr Edward Jatto, said he established the station to perform the task of educating, informing and entertaining the wide audience, including the children, students, youths, working class and senior citizens among others.

He said,” Our programmes are tailored to meet the needs of these key demographic and psychographic groups with local content programmes,fashioned to help build our cultural heritage.

Jatto, who is from Okene Local Government Area and has spent many years in USA as a musician,disclosed that that the company planned to establish a small scale but standard television station also in Okene, adding that the project would cost about N3.2 billion.

According to him, the proposed television arm of the company, when on board, will provide professional television broadcasting services that will provide platforms for businesses, individuals and non-profit organizations in promoting their brands as well as reaching out to a wide range of potential customers all over the globe.

He added that the planned television would have operating broadcasting studios, engage in production of local content programmes, transmits programnes to affiliated broadcast stations, creates sports and entertaining related advertising campaigns among others.

Many of the people, mostly from Ebiraland who graced the occasion, in their comments, commended Jatto for coming home to invest his resources in uplifting his father land and called on other ebira extractions living abroad to emulate his patriotic step to boost social and economic development of Ebiraland.

Our correspondent reports that various musicians, including a 14-year-old rising star, Queenayo Ohunene from Lagos as well as notable comedians among others, thrilled audience at the colourful event showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Ebiraland.
