Customs seizes 242 goods worth over N259 m in kwara

The Nigeria Customs Service,(NCS) Joint Border Patrol Team in Kwara State says it has recorded about 242 seizures with a total duty paid value of N259.260 million and arrested five illegal Immigrants from inception of it’s operation till date.

The Coordinator of the Team in charge of North Central Zone , Sector-3, Comptroller Olugboyega Peters stated this while speaking with Journalists on the successes recorded at the Command Headquarters in Ilorin.

He said out of the total seizures the team made 128 seizures with a duty paid value of N75,851Million Naira between January till date.

According to him three set of human traffickers with a total number of 80 suspected trafficked children have also been intercepted.

Comptroller Peters explained that the five illegal Immigrants women arrested alongside their Nigerian driver were intercepted along lokoja Abuja High way during a stop and search operations by the team.

He noted that the women specialised in stealing women wrappers through the use of charms in Kaduna and Kano axis.

Comptroller Peters urged the youth to shun the act of being used by economic saboteurs to attack operatives while carrying out their lawful duties.

Some of the Items seized include ,1584 bags of foreign rice,48 Units of used vehicles,7 Motorcycles,1864 Jerry Cans of 25 liters of Petrol,21 bags if foreign sugar,and 948 cartoons of foreign Tomatoes among others.
