Kagara : Niger govt. identifies names of abducted students, others

As conscious efforts are on to secure freedom for the kidnapped students and teachers of Government Science College, Kagara, abducted by gunmen, the state government has released the names of the victims.

The Reporters gathered that no fewer than 27 students of the school, 3 teachers, two non teaching staff and 9 family members of the staff staying in the quarters were kidnapped on Wednesday morning by the bandits.

The names of the abducted students are: Jamilu Isah, Shem Joshua, Abbas Abdullahi, Isah Abdullahi, Ezekeil Danladi, Haliru Shuibu, Mamuda Suleman, Danzakar Dauda, Abdulsamad Sanusi, Bashir Abbas.

Others are: Suleman Lawal, Habakuk Augustine, Idris Mohammed, Abdullahi Adamu, Musa Adamu, Abdulkarim Abdulrahman, Abubakar Danjumma, Abdullahi Abubakar, Bashir Kamalideen, Mohammed Salisu, Yusuf M Kabir, Polineous Vicente, Lawal Bello, Mohammed K Shehu, Isah Abdullah Makusidi, Mubarak Sidi and Abdulsamad Nuhu.

The abducted teachers are: Hannatu Philip, Lawal Abdullahi and Dodo Fodio while the non teaching staff are Faiza Mohammed and Mohammed Musa.

The names of abducted family members include: Christiana Adama, Faith Adama, Maimuna Suleman, Nura Isah, Ahmad Isah, Mohammed Mohammed, Khadizat Isah, Aisha Isah and Saratu Isah.

However, one of the students, Benjamin Habila paid the supreme price as he was gunned down by the bandits in the school premises.

Meanwhile, a formost Islamic scholar in the country, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has promised to visit Kagara over abduction of Niger students with a view to joining forces in securing freedom for the students and other victims of the incident.

Gumi, who gave his words after visiting the governor of Niger state, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello in Minna on Wednesday, described the abduction of students of the school and others as unfortunate.

Kagara is a community in Niger State, the headquarters of the Rafi Local Government Area. It is part of the Niger South Senatorial district, and is the seat of the Kagara Emirate– Wikipedia.
