40th Anniversary :Ojota old students refurbish 2 classrooms for alma mater

As away of paying back to the school that laid solid foundation for their accomplishments in life,
members of the Ojota Secondary School Old Students’ Association (OSSOSA) in Lagos have refurbished two classrooms and equipped an information technology laboratory at their alma mater, to commemorate its 40th anniversary.

The President of the association, Mr Chris Nwandu, said this during the school’s 40th anniversary in Lagos during weekend in Lagos

He said that the project was made possible by the moral and financial contributions of members of the association across the globe.

“Within the few months, we have been able to fully register 22 sets while more are still joining.

” As part of of celebration, we have refurbished two classrooms in the junior secondary school and Information Technology Laboratory at the senior secondary school.

“We assure the Lagos State Government of our resolve, as an association, to support the school in all its programmes and we also plead with the government to assist in upgrading various facilities in the school,” Nwandu said.

The Principal of the school, Mr Samson Adigun, said that 11 principals had served in the school in the last 40 years.

He commended the old students for the gesture and urged the Lagos State Government to ensure conducive environment for learning in schools.

The Ojota Junior Secondary School Principal, Mrs Iyadunni Akinyemi, pleaded with the association to renovate and equip the school’s ICT laboratory.

The Chairman, Planning Committee of (OSSOSA) 40th anniversary, Mr Babatunde Orungbeja, 1985 set, said the association was formed in 2019 after the 1988 set of the school held their 20th anniversary in 2018.

Orungbeja, who said that the meeting started in one of the class rooms, expressed delight that the association had grown into a big body, including those in Diaspora.

He commended the the financial and moral contributions of all members in Nigeria and those in Diaspora for making the two projects possible within six months.

The old students also gave prizes worth N10,000 to the male and female prefects, Mose Solanke and Habiat Raheem, while the principals received merit award for their dedication.
