As the mood of Nigerians gathers momentum toward Christmas and New year among other festivities ahead, SEAP Microfinance, Ilorin, Kwara state, through its Self Reliance Economic Advancement Programme (SEAP) says it aims at providing palliatives in form of food items to 10,000 less priviledged people in Kwara state.
Speaking at the distribution of food palliative to the beneficiaries in Ilorin, the Executive Programme Director of SEAP, Pastor Dr Olatunde Oladokun JP, said that the gesture was “to show love to our members and non members.”
According to him, the beneficiaries also include members of the Christian and Muslim community, the less privileged people, to assist them cushion the effects of COVID-19 anf ENDSARS and give back to the society.
“We are targeting ten thousand people that we want to give food palliative to for Christmas and is our joy that we are being relevant to the life of these people, that in the mood of Christmas, we are able to give to people.
“We do not shy away from any organisation that wants to partner with us in giving food palliative to members and the people of the community, we are touching ten thousand people, including the North and the South West,”he said.
He expressed concern over the looting and other ugly trends
that characterised the #Ensars in Ilorin and called on the state government to guard against reoccurrence by partnering with responsible and decent grassroots organisations in distributing palliatives to the people.
“I believe that politics should not be everything, if we are doing the right thing, there is no need for people reading meaning politically to whatever we are doing. I believe that if the government is doing the right thing at the right time, there would not be any need for anybody to be attributing any political power to it” he said.
Some of the beneficiaries,who spoke with our correspondent,such as Titilayo Esther Oladimeji, expressed gratitude to SEAP for the gesture and urged other organizations to emulate its footstep, by adding value to human life and the society in general.
