Kogi Poly Osara campus becomes permanent site of CUSTECH—Official

The reality of the Kogi State-owned Confluence University of Science and Technology,(CUSTECH), Osara taking off soon brightened on Tuesday with the state government taking over campus to serve as the permanent site for the university.

The Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic, Dr Usman Ogbo, handed over the Osara campus of the polytechnic to the Commissioner for Education, Mr Wemi Jones.

Taking over the campus,the commissioner said the occasion underscored Governor Yahaya Bello’s Commitment to the actualization of the University, as a centre of academic excellence.

Jones, who added that the take-off of the University remained topmost priority of the state government, commended the Governor for his love for youths, education and empowerment

A representative of Osara community at the event, MrJoseph Arudi, expressed delight over the development, commended the state government for the move and called for the employment of quality indegenes of the area when the university takes off.

The Reporters,an online media outfit, recalls that the authorities of the National University Commission (NUC),had last week given green light for the establishment of the University in Abuja by recognising it.

This was followed by the constitution of an implementation committee, by the Governor, to work out processes that would ensure the coming on board the institution in the next year academic session.

For now, Kogi state which was created on August 27, 1991, has one university located in Anyigba in the east senatorial district of the state while Federal government established a university in lokoja in addition to a private university also in lokoja.

Osara village is located between Lokoja and Okene on a 70-kilometre Lokoja-Okene highway in the central senatorial district of the state.

Education experts who spoke with the online out on the development expressed optimism that besides boosting educational sector of the state, the new university would bring a lot of social and economic benefits to Osara in a tremendous way.
