Barely a week after a tanker explosion killed at least, 23 persons and many vehicles destroyed on Felele highway in Lokoja,kogi state, another articulated vehicle, filled with petroleum products on Wednesday fell on the same road.
A correspondent of Reporters, an online publication, gathered that the accident happened at about 1.30 p.m.
Our correspondent,who visited the screen of the accident, gathered from eyewitnesses that there was no casualty while some security personnel were seen guarding the place.
Meanwhile,Kogi state government said it had swung into action to put the people on red alert on the accident for them to shun fuel scooping and guard against human casualty.
The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, said: “The tanker, fully loaded with Premium Motor Spirit( PMS) (Petrol) was involved in an accident this afternoon.
“The state government has put in place all necessary safety measures and deployed men of the Fire Service and other security personnel to the scene of the accident to avert human casualties.
“Government is therefore by way of this announcement, strongly advises members of the public, scooping the PMS from the fallen tanker, to desist from such dangerous act immediately to avoid plunging the state into another tragedy.
“Anyone found to be engaging in activities capable of endangering the lives of the people around the accident scene will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
“Residents of the area should go about their normal businesses with caution as Government is in full charge of the situation.”
