Nigeria has recorded its lowest number of confirmed coronavirus infections in the last five months with 79 new cases announced on Sunday by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on its twitter account in Abuja.
The Reporters, an online publication, recalls that Nigeria recorded its first case of Coronavirus on February 27,2020 after the deadly that has claimed millions of lives was reported in Wuhan, China on December 31,2019.
NCDC gave a breakdown of the new cases reported as at Sunday, via its official Twitter handle as follows:

The centre, however,added that on Saturday, Nigeria recorded 56,177 total cases, 44,008 recoveries and 1,078 fatalities nationwide.
The newly recorded infections have now put total COVID-19 cases at 56,246, 44,152 discharged and 1,082 fatalities across the country.
Also, NCDC in its latest situation report has revealed that overall samples tested nationwide have increased from 438,135 to 440,248 as at September 12.
Meanwhile, all educational institutions, public and private in kogi state resumed academic activities on Monday on the order of the Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
The commisdioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Wemi Jones, disclosed this recently during a news briefing in Lokoja.
The online media reports that while on almost six months CoronaVirus induced holiday, the state government organised radio educational programme for students to keep them abreast of their studies.
