The recent heavy down pour in Jebba, Moro Local Government Area of Kwara state and the resultant flood has led to the displacement of more than 2,500 people in the area.
The Reporters reports that the
flood victims for called on the state government to come to their aid, to cushion the effect of the unfortunate development.
The Deputy House Leader, Kwara State House of Assembly, representing Lanwa/Ejidongari Constituency, John Olanrewaju Bello, who visited the community, sympathized with the victims and assured them of the state government intervention.
He told the victims that plans were underway, by the state government, to evacuate them from the affected areas to a safe abode pending the time heavy downpour would cease and called on them to remain.
States likely to be affected by flood in 2020, according to NiMET are: Borno, Yobe, Gombe, Adamawa, Taraba, Bauchi, Plateau, Nasarawa, Benue, Niger, Kogi, Enugu and Anambra. The rest are: Imo, Abia, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Edo, Ekiti, Osun, Kwara, Zamfara, Sokoto, Lagos, Ondo, Bayelsa, Kaduna, Oyo, Ogun, Abia, Kano, Kebbi and the FCT.
