Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has vowed to bring to book, perpetrators of Agbudu community attack in Kogi/Koto Karfe Local Government Area of the state which left 14 people dead,13 of who are from the same family and six others injured.
The Governor, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Muhammed in Lokoja said,” No matter the cause of the attack, the criminals cannot escape the consequences of their dastardly act.”
Bello promised to sustain the operations against criminal elements in the state.
He declared that his government was determined to frustrate and defeat criminals, adding that no matter how far they ran or hid, they would be smoked out and made to face the law.
The Governor commiserated with the family of the victims of what he called “heinous and coward attack” in the community.
He assured the people of Agbudu and other parts of the state that his government would continue to deploy all available resources to fight the heartless criminal elements with a view to bringing them to their knees.
The governor said the marauders should make no mistake that they could unleash terror on the people without feeling the full might of government elected to protect the citizens.
Some members of the public who spoke with Duaglobalnews on the tragedy development, urged the state government to look into the issue of contention over the ownership of ponds in the local government area of the state.
They identified conflict surrounding such natural resource as one of factors responsible for bloody clashes in many rural aread in the state.
They also called on the state Ministry of Information to embark on an aggressive enlightenment campaign, especially in the rural areas, on the need for people to see their differences as a challenge to forge the much needed unity to boost meaningful development in the state.
