A communal clash between the people of Agudu village in Kogi Local Government Area of kogi State has claimed 14 lives that includes 13 members of a family.

Duaglobalnews reports that the incident occurred on Tuesday night when some people, believed to be on a ravenge mission, stormed the village, killed their victims and destroyed houses and fled.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Ede Ayuba Ekpeji, confirmed the incident during a press conference in Lokoja on Wednesday.

Ekpeji, who said he had visited the village to access the situation, said the command had swung into with a view to tracing and arresting the culprits, for them to face justice.

According to him, the command had also enhanced security in and around the village to guard against future attack.

He assured members of the public that the command would not leave stone untouched to ensure that the perpetrators of the crime were brought to book.

Duaglobalnews gathered that ownership of fishing ponds among the various ethnic groups, remains a recurring decimal among the factors responsible for conflicts in the Local government area of the state.

Being a waterlog area, fishing and farming feature prominently in the occupation of the people of the area.
