A management expert, Lawal Lamidi, has advocated mobile police check points in the country to make them difficult for criminals to detect as well improve the security of life and property.
He made the suggestion on Thursday in Lokoja while delivering a public lecture “The state of the nation: CMS solutions” to market his 58th birth.
Lamidi said the nature of the current police checks in Nigeria, which made them stationary, had made them vulnerable to criminals who they easily locate the points to evade arrest.
He also urged the police to delve into the use of technology to boost their efforts in fighting crime and criminality to logical end, adding that the wave of crime in Nigeria had gone beyond the traditional method of fighting crime and criminality by the international standard.
Lamidi also called for effective synergy between individuals, security agencies, government and organisations in fighting crime through information sharing.
On the root cause of crime in the society, the celebrator identified the break down in family value as the major bane in fighting the menace.
He, therefore, called on parents to train their children on the path of moral rectitude and revive the fallen values, to enable the re-emargency of the era of well trained youths that would ensure responsible leaders of tomorrow.
“When parents spend more time and resources in training the children to be good citizens and be exemplary in character, the country will witness less number of kidnappers,armed robbers and other people of questionable chapter in the society,” Lamidi stressed.
On unemployment, Lamidi, who lamented the high rate of jobless youths in the country, however, called for justice and equity in the remuneration of employees.
According to him, emphasy should be based on qualification, experience and commitment of employees in fixing their salaries and promotion to elicit higher productivity and boost their contribution to nation building
He argued that with fair play in the recruitment of workers,indolent and unproductive employees would be weeded and be replaced with qualified and efficient ones, thereby reducing the rate of unemployment in the country.
Lamidi, who is the Deputy Bursary, Kogi State University,(KSU), Anyigba said he had opened a website: csmsolutions.org.ng for the unemployed indigenes of kogi state to file in their resume.
According to him, the site will make it easy for government and private companies looking for qualify people to be employed to have the data of such candidates for employment.
