Barely a week after Governor of Delta State Ifeanyi Okowa disclosed that he was tested positive to Coronavirus, his wife, Dame Edith Okowa has also tested positive to the novel virus.
The governor, who made the disclosure in Asaba via his verified Facebook Page on Wednesday said:“My wife and I have tested positive for COVID-19.
“We are well and continuing with our isolation/medication. We thank you all for your continued prayers for us and our daughter.”
Duaglobalnews recalls that the governor had earlier proceeded on a 24-day isolation, last week, with his family.
This is sequel to one of his daughters tested positive to the virus according to his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olisa Ifeajika.
Ifeajika, who stressed that “COVID-19 is real”, and urged residents in the state to ensure discipline and comply with the protocols such as wearing face masks and maintaining physical-distancing among others.
The online gathered that two top officials of the state government: the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Chiedu Ebie and Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu had earlier tested positive to the virus.
The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), in its latest figure, showed that Nigeria has 25,694 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Of the figure, 9,746 patients have been discharged,590 deaths recorded with Delta State having 965 cases, the centre added.
