Next Chief Imam of Ebiraland to emerge democratically- meeting

The election of Chief I mam of Ebiraland in kogi state will henceforth be done within the principle of democratic procedure.

The decision was reached in a meeting organized by Governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello with the leadership of Islamic Groups in Kogi Central in lokoja on Sunday.

The meeting, Duaglobalnews gathered also arrived at a consensus that the election of a new Chief imam would take into consideration the knowledge and experience of the contestants based on the functions of a chief imam before being elected.

The Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Alhaji Ado Ibrahim, represented by Chairman of Ebira Supreme Council Alh Engr Sule,grace the occasion.

Others in attendance were: the Clerk of the National Assembly Alhaji Mohammed Ataba Omolori, the Chief Justice of the State, Justice Nasiru Ajanah,the National and the President, Ebira Peoples Association, Dr Abdulrahman Adeiza.

Also in attendance were the executive of the Ebira Youth Congress, All Government Officials, all elected Political Office Holders, other traditional rulers and media group from Kogi Central among other critical stakeholders of Ebiraland.

Duaglobalnews recalls that uneasy calm set in Friday in Okene town on Friday over the tussle surrounding the emergence of a new Chief imam of Ebiraland, following the demise of the former, Sheik Musa Galadima last year.

The online publication gathered that Alhaji Saliu Abere has been appointed as the acting Chief Imam of Ebiraland, pending the election of a substantive Chief imam.

Here are the names of the past lmams of Central Mosque in Okene.

1) Sheik Yahaya Tajudeen-Appointed by Alhaji Ibrahim Atta, the late Ohinoyi of Ebiraland.

2) Sheik Aliyu Goni Al-hafizee, appointed on the concesus of ulama of Okene and confirmed by Atta.

3) Sheik Suleiman Idogido, appointed by Atta, after the death of Goni.

4) Sheik Muhammadu Natumbi, appointed by Atta,after the settlement of Ohinoyi and sheik Yahaya Tajudeen, he(sheik Yahaya Tajudeen) became Imam again after the death of Sheik Natumbi and thereafter died as Imam.

Duaglobalnews gathered that all the above clerics were never interviewed because they were highly knowledgeable scholars, they were all appointed

5) Sheik Musa Galadima, was interviewed alone just to ratify his nomination.
