The People’s Democratic Party in kwara central senatorial district has expressed satisfaction with the appointment of Professor Mohammad Mustapha Akanbi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria ( SAN ) as the Vice Chancellor of kwara State University,(KSU), Malete.

The Party Chairman in the district, Alhaji Jimoh Adeshina, described the new Vice Chancellor, an indegene of the senatorial district,as “an experienced hand who is ready to turn around the fortune of the institution.”

Reacting to the earlier release by the state chairman of the party, Engr. kola Shitu in which he kicked against the appointment, said Shitu’s action was self-serving and against the party’s constitution”.

He said that the executive members of the party were not informed, prior to Shittu’s action.

Adeshina also faulted Shitu’s claim that the governor appointed his kwara central Kingsman to the position.

He argued that the governor followed due process because he approved the recommendation by the University council in the appointment.

The district chairman of the party therefore applauded the governor for taking a bold step on the matter, devoid of tribalism or favouritism, for the development of the institution.

Adeshina advised that for the progress of the institution of higher learning, political or ethnic sentiment should not be placed above competency.

He implored members of the public to regard Shitu’s statement “as personal and not that of the party.”
