Pandemic: Kogi closes firm, monitors Chinese, other nationals

The Squadron Team, set up by the Logo state Governor, Yahaya Bello on Coronavirus has directed the immediate closure of a ceramic firm in Ajaokuta while monitoring the health status of the Chinese and other nationals working in the firm.

Duaglobalnews reports that the 29-member team, raised to ensure containment of the spread of the deadly Coronavirus in the State is headed by the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja.

The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr Kingsley Fanwo, a member of the team,who disclosed this in a statement in Lokoja on Thursday said the team had also such nationals placed on compulsory isolation.

Fanwo assured the people of the committeement of the members of the team to do their job deligently.
” We wish to assure the people of the commitment of Governor Yahaya Bello to the fight against Coronavirus.

The Governor has also made logistics available for the set-up of a functional Containment/Isolation Centre and also for aggressive sensitisation, on the health protocols that will stop the virus from spreading in the state.

He said the team had commenced full implementation of the directives earlier given to ensure the wellbeing of the people across the 21 local government areas, adding that sensitisation had been oon across the state.

The commissioner who noted that there was no confirmed case of Coronavirus yet in the state, said the decision to close all land and sea borders in the state was in full force.

He told commercial motorcyclists to stay off the road until further notice warming that anyone found to be breaking the rules “shall be made to face the full wrath of the law.”

The Commissioner called on the people in the state to contact the team’s its emergency hotlines in case of any emergency, adding that the team worked 24 hours daily.

He also urged the people not panic but maintain simple respiratory hygiene and stay at home, reminding them that market places, schools and some government offices remained closed as well as social and religious gathering.
