The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Deedat Ozigi Abdulsalam, has pledged full support of his ministry to the Kogi State Social Investment Programmes.
Deedat gave the assurance in Lokoja during a courtesy visit by the management team of Kogi SIP, led by the Focal person, Mr Abdulkareem Suleiman Onyekehi.
The Commissioner lauded the SIP for the immense socio-economic value the programmes have added to the beneficiaries in Kogi and promised to give maximum support for improved service delivery.
He also promised to ensure smooth relationship between his office and the SIP office for effective management considering the increasing beneficiaries of the Programmes in the state.
Earlier, Onyekehi expressed delight over the support his office had received from the commissioner since he assumed office, describing the development as indicative of a new era for the programme and it’s teeming beneficiaries across the state.
“We appreciate your tremendous support to our office, even without lobbying for it.
“This has assured us of a promising future for a more effective management and implementation of the programme,”Onyekehi said.
He pleaded, among other areas, the need for the payment of backlog of staff salaries and the lack of official utility vehicles for the office, for effective monitoring and field work in the rural areas.
He expressed optimism that maximum synergy with the ministry would translate to optimum performance of the programme.
