Kogi set to beat Covid 19-Commissioner

Kogi state government has assured residents that it has put measure in place to beat the deadly Corona virus disease (COVID – 19).

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Saka Haruna Audu, gave the assurance during a stakeholders meeting in Lokoja on Tuesday.

He also disclosed that the state government ” is setting up temporary isolation wards at the Confluence Advanced Medical Diagnostic and Imaging Centre (CAMDIC), Lokoja.”

Saka said the state government had concluded plans to organise sensitisation and awareness campaigns across the state against the disease.

The commissioner added that the ministry would engage in house to house campaign, create awareness in schools, higher institutions of learning, popular market places and motor parks, to awake the consciousness of the people, on how to avoid the disease.

Duaglobalnews reports that the first case of coronavirus was confirmed in Lagos last week.

He stated that the state government would also build the capacity of health workers, on how to identify the disease and care for infected patients,if any, with appropriate precautionary measures and application of standard barrier nursing tactics.

He advised the general public not to panic assuring that government at all levels had intensified efforts to prevent the spread of the virus.

Also speaking at the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo, said the media platforms were available to sensitide the people on how to control the spread of the disease.

The Commissioner for Education, Wemi Jones, advised residents to take their personal hygiene serious and minimise contact with people manifesting signs and symptoms attributed to the disease.
