We will not tolerate any excuse for failure, commissioner tells CMDs

Chief Medical Directors(CMD) of hospitals in Kwara State have been told to justify the purpose of their of their office through hard work as the state government will not take excuse for non performance.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Raji Razaq, gave the warning in an indoor interactive session with all the Heads of Facilities in the state under the Hospital Management Board at the Ministry of Health, Ilorin on Thursday.

He stressed that the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq would not rest on its oars until it put an end to infrastructure decay in all the state health facilities, in its conscious efforts to increase the healthcare service delivery to the people.

Razaq, therefore, urged Heads of Facilities in ministry to change the mindset of Kwara citizens toward healthcare service delivery, to allay fears over the ability of medical practitioners to contain epidemic outbreaks.

The Director-General, Kwara State Hospital Management Board, Alhaji Saad Aluko, commended the governor for appointing Razaq as the Commissioner to pilot the affairs of Health sector in the state and described the commissioner as experience and capable hand.

The director-general,who said he could feel the challenges faced by the rural health workers, assured them that the state government was strategising to ensure conducive environment to elicit their productive as well as welfare.

He said “Based on the readiness of this present administration to renovate and equip hospitals across board, be rest assured that most of these challenges shall be addressed.”

The Deputy Director,Medical Services and Training in the ministry, Dr Stephen Arigidi, louded Chief Medical Directors for the successful interactive session aimed at updating and creating better solutions for the health sector.

He said the state government had zero tolerance for quackery, a development he noted endangered many lives, especially in the rural areas.

He urged Heads of public Hospitals to be more proactive in discharging their services appropriately.

In another development, the state epidemiologist, Dr Khadijah Kamaldeen, has sensitised Chief Medical Directors (CMD) on the outbreak of Lassa fever in the country.

Kamaldeen,who also dwelt on signs and symptoms of the virus as well as measures to prevent its spread in the state.

She, however called on CMDs to be prepared to tackle any outbreak at”anytime.”

Other top government officials in the ministry at its parasternals that attended the occasion were; Directors among others.
