Mr Wemi Jones,the new Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology (MOEST) on Thursday, took over the mantle of leadership of the ministry with a promise to ensure more rapid innovatve and creative transformation in the sector.
Jones used be a banker and also a candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 House of Representatives election for Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency.
He was among the 17 new commissioners sworn-in Gov. Yahaya Bello on Wednesday at Government House, Lokoja after screening and confirmation by the state House of Assembly on Wednesday.
Jone expressed gratitude to the governor for finding him worthy to be appointed to such an important political office, stressing that education remained the bedrock of any society and its sustainable development.
The new commissioner said having gone round all the departments in the ministry and had brief meeting with the management and members of staff, he discovered that the ministry was blessed with a lot of potential yearning for harnessing.
He promised to develop those potentialities through capacity building to achieve the aims and objectives of the ministry.
